Board-certified dermatology online · Shaving waiver

Online evaluation for an employer shaving waiver.

If shaving causes pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), ingrown hairs, or persistent razor bumps, a board-certified dermatologist can evaluate your skin and, when medically necessary, document an employer shaving waiver (no-shave letter) you can share with HR or your chain of command.

$59 standard visit (within 24 hours) · $129 priority (within 12 hours). Waiver documentation issued only when medically appropriate.

FAQ

Questions about shaving waivers.

What is a shaving waiver?

A shaving waiver — sometimes called a no-shave letter — is a letter from a clinician documenting that daily shaving is medically inadvisable, typically because of pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB), recurring ingrown hairs, or severe razor bumps. Many employers request a clinician letter before approving a beard or trimmed-beard accommodation.

Do you issue employer shaving waivers?

Yes — when medically necessary. A board-certified dermatologist reviews your photos and history. If PFB or another condition makes daily shaving inadvisable, we'll write documentation appropriate for your employer.

What photos and information should I send?

Clear, well-lit photos of the beard area at relaxed and stretched positions, close-ups of any active bumps or ingrown hairs, and a note on your current shaving routine, tools, and any prior treatments.

Are you active-duty military?

DocBright can help with employer, school, military, and other shaving waiver documentation when medically necessary. Start the same visit and share where the documentation needs to be used.

What if a waiver isn't medically necessary?

If a dermatologist determines a waiver isn't medically necessary, we'll still provide a treatment plan for the underlying condition (typically PFB or razor bumps). If we can't provide a first-line impression, or your condition isn't suitable for review via DocBright, we'll refund your visit fee.

Whatever it is, let's take a look.
